Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the US. Some estimate that as many as 50 percent of all sexually active adults will contract HPV at some point in their lives. You can get vaccinated for HPV which may prevent genital warts and many cancers. HPV can result in various forms of cancers but typically shows no symptoms. Because this infection is so widespread and has no symptoms, the only way to know for sure is with testing. Talk to your healthcare provider about testing.
